When is the next FPL deadline?

The next Fantasy Premier League deadline is 90 minutes before the first match of the gameweek. The exact time is below, counting down live.

How FPL deadlines work

The rule

The deadline falls 90 minutes before the first kick-off of the gameweek. Nothing else determines it. Because the Premier League schedules matches around television, the first kick-off moves constantly — so a deadline can be Saturday at 11:00, Friday at 18:30, or a Tuesday evening in a midweek round. There is no fixed weekly slot, which is why so many managers miss one.

What happens if you miss it

Your squad is locked exactly as it stood. Transfers you were considering but had not confirmed do not happen. The captain armband stays where it was. Substitutions you meant to make are not made. There is no grace period, no appeal, and no way to undo it — the team you had at the deadline is the team that plays.

The one mechanism that still helps you is automatic substitution: if a player in your starting eleven does not play at all, a bench player who did play replaces him, in bench order, provided the swap keeps a legal formation.

The captain, and the vice-captain trap

Captaincy is fixed at the deadline and doubles that player's score. The vice-captain only takes over if the captain plays zero minutes. A captain who comes on for five minutes and does nothing still counts as your captain — the vice does not rescue you. This catches people out every season.

Transfers

Unused free transfers roll over, up to five banked at once. Past that the surplus is lost. Each transfer beyond your free ones costs four points, deducted from that gameweek's total. That deduction is real and it is permanent — a hit only pays for itself if the player you bring in outscores the one you sold by more than four.

Prices

Player prices update once daily at roughly 01:30 UK time, driven by how many managers transfer a player in or out. They are frozen from the deadline until the gameweek ends. If you are trying to catch a rise or avoid a fall, the night before is when it happens — the price tracker shows how close each player is.

Chips

Wildcard, Free Hit, Bench Boost and Triple Captain all have to be activated before the deadline, and once the deadline passes a played chip cannot be cancelled. A chip activated but not confirmed is not activated at all.
